Beard transplantation is the process of transplanting hair follicles obtained from a suitable area of the body for transplantation or from the back of the hair to the beardless parts of the face. No beard growth in the facial area, injury, spillage, etc. This process is done for personal reasons. The total number of beards to be transplanted is also determined according to the expectations of the person. FUE and FUT methods are used in beard transplantation, as is hair transplantation. However, the FUE method is applied, which is the most preferred method of transplantation today.
In FUE beard transplantation, small incisions are made after determining the direction and growth of the beard in the beard area. Hair follicles taken from the relevant donor area are placed into these incisions. Generally, depending on the patients’ request, about 1,000 to 3,000 hair follicles are transplanted. The criterion that determines the hair follicles required for transplantation is the severity of the amount of shedding in the relevant area of the patient.
The transplanted hair follicles are discarded after transplantation at a rate of 15-30 days. This is a normal libation process. Then, within 90 days, the beard growth is complete and the hair follicles take their new places. In the four-month period following the operation, the beard begins to close. It can take an average of nine months for beards to reach their fullness level.
